Basics of Sauna Heaters

If you have a sauna, of course, it's not going to be complete without a heater. The heater is what makes it possible for you to relax and de-stress for a while. This is true whether you utilize a sauna at a place such as a health club, or have your own home version. However, technology has made it possible for you to pick from several choices when it comes to choosing the type of sauna heater you want. There are several choices and sauna heaters available weather for a home unit or for a commercial application.

There are several different types of models you can choose from when you're picking out your sauna heater. Each provides its own benefits, and in some cases, consumers are confused as to what type they should buy. Some experts and manufacturers provide tips so that you can choose the best one for your sauna, as well as one that will fit your budget and your needs.

First, decide on the type of sauna you want to use. Do you want an "old-fashioned" one, where you have to use wood to create a hot environment? These are perfect for places that don't have electricity, or for where putting in an electric system would be a lot more work. Some of the places these types of heaters are often used are in vacation homes or in other rustic settings. Some sauna establishments also use this kind of heater, since it provides an atmosphere consumers like to experience.

You can also decide that you want an electric heater. These are usually made of stainless steel or aluminum, so they're very durable. You can install the electric heater in the sauna wall or place it in a corner. You can also usually easily adjust your sauna's temperature with an electric heater, because they usually utilize remote controls that you can use for easy access.

After you decide the type of heater that you want to have, choose your brand. Purchase your heater from a reputable company instead of from a manufacturer who does not have a solid reputation, or whose service is less than stellar. Credible heater manufacturers will sell their products at higher prices, but the quality you'll get will be well worth it. If you buy an inexpensive sauna heater at a low price, it's likely that you'll pay for it n the end with a cheap product that doesn't work as well. In some cases, it could even be hazardous and cause damage to you or your property. Therefore, make sure you keep your health and safety in mind, and buy a sauna heater that is of quality, so that not only will you be safe, but will allow you to use your sauna for years to come.

Islam - Basic Beliefs and Concepts

Islam is the most growing religion on earth, there are more than 2 Billion humans all over the world called Muslims. Islam is based on the Submission of human will to One God who is called in Arabic "Allah" The only One, The Superior and The Only Creator Of This Universe with no partners and all the existence under his own Control.

Islam was the religion given to Adam The first Man on Earth who was created by God, not as fallen being. All The Prophets & Messengers of God "Allah" to humankind on Earth were Muslims including Adam, Abraham, Moses, Aaron, Jacob, Jesus and Mohammad. They have the same basic Message to Mankind: "La Ilaha Illa Allah" which means no God worth of worshiping Except Allah and anything else is his servant and creation.

Although those prophets came with different books, practices and methods of worshiping, Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings be upon him and all other prophets) was the last Messenger of Allah On earth Before the Day of Judgment.

The Basic Message of Islam is the absolute Unity of Allah 'God' and he is not independent on anything or anyone else or even alike, he is not three on one nor father and son, Muslims beliefs on Jesus as Allah's Prophet and Messenger and his servant just like all other prophets Including Mohammad and Moses.

Islam believes that God and his creations are completely different entities. Allah is not his creation nor he is a part of it. Islam believes that his essence and his great knowledge are everywhere on his creation.

Islam calls the human away from the worshiping of the creation of Allah and invites him to the worshiping of the creator -- Allah himself, because the greatest sin of humanity is the worshiping of the creation.

Among the basics of Islamic Religion, the most important part is the belief in one God 'Allah' and He is the only Creator, Ruler, Lord, Administrator and Master of all that exists, And this Universe exists and functions because the will of Allah alone.

Allah responds to man's prayer and He is the only one who has the power to accept or reject it. He is the Master of man's destiny, no one ever else can interfere with the fate of others or even with his own fate!

All the humans hopes and fears should be only directed to Allah. He is the object of fear & source of favor.

That's the bedrock and most fundamental aspect of Islam religion, May Allah guide all of us to the truth and thank you for your time.

The Risks Of Caffeine

Millions of people drink soda each day- diet or not. Those who drink non-diet sodas could be at risk- but exactly how unhealthy can caffeine become for ones health?

Caffeine is both artificially and naturally produced. It is a stimulant, so it has seen many uses in areas of work or study. While most of it is consumed in soda, you can find it in chocolate and pain relievers.

At this point I can honestly say that I have found caffeine to be neither a stimulant nor addictive. I have been consuming it for many years in pretty large quantities. I can take it or leave it and, yes, I can sleep for hours after consuming it. It seems to make no difference.

It should be noted, however, that caffeine is, in fact, addictive- and you can feel the effects of it for up to 6 hours (or so they say). This can include insomnia, a rather large drawback to the drug found in sodas. It not only dehydrates the body, but removes calcium from bones- a vital nutrient in child development.

The maximum amount of caffeine you should consume a day should be no more than 100 milligrams- about two Mountain Dew sodas. It is recommended that if you drink more than this, you try to cut back. If you are sincerely addicted to caffeine-related products- it is recommended you take vitamins to help regain the nutrients you lose.

Caffeine is, and will continue, to be legal. It is strongly recommended intake of it should be limited to help fight obesity, high blood pressure, and other health related problems that come with the addiction- your health could depend on it.

Chinese Astrology Compatibility

There is a belief amongst the Chinese community that those who are born four years apart are more compatible than those who are born six year apart. And those that are born 6 years apart are likely to be less compatible. Do you know why?

In the 12 Animals Zodiac system of astrology, our character is influenced by our year of birth. For example those born in the year of the rat are intelligent and suspicious while those born in the year of the horse are generous and loves freedom. Based on our year of birth we are imbued with certain characteristics that make us more of less compatible with each other.

According to the ancient Chinese, the Monkey, Rat and Dragon form a compatible set. They have characteristics that make them more compatible with each other. The other compatible sets are the Snake, Rooster and Ox; the Pig, Rabbit and Goat and the Tiger, Horse and Dog. If you check the year of birth you notice that they are four years apart. For example those born in 1964 are Rats, 1968 are Dragons and 1972 are Monkeys!

The Rat on the other hand is supposedly less compatible than the Horse. They form an incompatible set. The other incompatible sets are between Ox and Goat, Tiger and Monkey, Rabbit and Rooster, Dragon and Dog and between the Snake and Pig. If you check the year of birth you will notice that they are six year apart!

The Chinese astrology compatibility tools that you find on the Internet are largely based on the above mentioned principles of combination and clash. Most will also include more combinations and clashes that I have not mentioned above but I hope you get the idea.

What if you and your spouse form an incompatible set? Do not panic. Did you notice that I used the word supposedly many times? In practice our character is also heavily influenced by the month, day and hour of birth which is not taken into consideration in the above examples. Therefore it is entirely possible for a Rat person to display characteristics of other animals (influences from the month, day and hour of birth)!

In my practice, I have seen many supposedly incompatible sets of husbands and wives. They are still together after many years of marriage and some of them quite happily! Perhaps love plays a part too.

Clear Your Space, Clear Your Mind!

Organization is something we all struggle with. It seems that no matter how hard we try, disorganization creeps back again and again. So, why do we even bother getting organized in the first place?

According to Feng Shui principles, clutter in any area of your life is a sign of stuck, stagnant energy. The more clutter you have, the more sluggish the energy becomes. If you have ever walked into a cluttered room, you have probably felt your energy drop dramatically. So much so that you may even avoid that room altogether and close the door so you don't have to look at it!

Coping with clutter is rarely easy and staying focused and motivated to get the job done can be one of the biggest challenges. Here are a few tips to help get you started and stay motivated when it all seems like too much!

Set Achievable Goals. Pick one area to tackle at a time - this could be a shelf, a drawer, a counter top. Picking one task and completing it is much more rewarding than trying to tackle an entire room or office all at once. When you don't finish something it makes it much harder to get started again the next time.

Start with messes and clutter you see every day. Assign every item (or group of items) a home. It dramatically cuts down on the clutter of items left out "for now" or "until I find a place for it".

Use the One-In-One-Out Rule. Make it a general policy to get rid of one old thing for every new purchase.

Work With Your Natural Tendencies. Observe what things pile up in your home or office and where they cluster then come up with a place nearby that becomes the official home where those things reside. It is easier to make the area look better with a basket or bin than to try and change a habit!

Pick Favorites. If you have a favorite brand or item that you use frequently but four partially used items of another brand that just did not measure up are sitting in your cupboard - give them away!

Only keep things you Use or Love.

Maintain your organized lifestyle with 30 minutes of upkeep each day.

Getting and staying organized is a lifestyle, not a crash diet. Start by making small changes and you will quickly see an improvement in your home or office space which directly affects how you feel about your life!

Laws of Attraction Break the United States Documentary Record!

Laws of Attraction may still be new to some, but the phrase is definitely not new to those who have been practicing the laws or the secret laws.

In the US, the Secret film that popularizes the "Laws of Attraction" was apparently the "third highest grossing documentary of all time". Does it surprise you at all? Can you remember the buzz that the film has created? It is expected that the movie will help changing even more lives!

The Secret movie though does not tell you anything new. It just reveals an ancient concept of the laws. Laws of Attraction say that thoughts become things and your thoughts will come to you when you visualize them. The laws obviously exist and they work both positive and negative ways. When you visualize negative, you receive negative; when you visualize positive, you receive positive.

In order to make sure that attraction principle work for you, you must remember that positive thinking precedes the laws. It is true that positive thinking does work, but when you mix that "positive thinking" with "emotion", your "visualization" becomes even more real than ever. That is why it is important to be able to attract positivity!

Take desire for wealth as an example. You may want to visualize the exact amount of money you want in a specific amount of time and what do you want to do specifically with that amount of money. When you focus on your desire, you are half way through your journey. Remember to actually apply the principle of attraction in your life. You cannot have a result without action. That is a fact. Period.

When you want to attract beautiful things into your life, you must feel how wonderful it feels to live the life you want and live it within your mind throughout the day. If you haven't practiced the attraction principle yet, I suggest you go do them soon.

I also have news for people who do not believe in the power of attraction - is silly for one not to accept the laws since there is no harm in believing and applying them.

Look, before the whole laws of attraction craze came along in the last three or four years, most people had no idea what they are. People just heard of "positive thinking". As we have established that "positive thinking" works, but it is even more effective when we apply the attraction principle. Remember that positive affirmations are simply statements that represent a goal or intention you would like to realize while the Laws of Attraction represent your whole being as you live and breath the Laws!

John Lee is an entrepreneur, who has found successes using the Laws of Attraction Not only he built his business from 5-figure debts to 5-figure passive income, he helps others to do the same. He is also a student of Bob Proctor and learn The Secret directly from Bob. Experiment With Your Waitress

Observer and the Observed

So quantum physics tells us that the observer causes the observed, or at the very least that the observer interferes with that which is being observed by the very process of observing it. Ive heard some people crying "heresy!" They do not like the idea that once the observer is not observing the observed, then the observed is not.

In my mind that misses a large, obvious point which makes the concept ludicrous. We are all one, god if you will, or at the very least energy, unseparated my anything other than atomic configuration which on a larger scale appears to create separation of bodies of mass. Since we know better, then theres a couple other points we cannot overlook.

Firstly, because we are all one energy field, for lack of a better term, there is no disappearance of anything when it is not being observed. Our human notion of not existing encapsulates anything not within the small frequency band our six physical senses can pick up. Perhaps the observer causes the observed to become a manifest, physical experience (to the observer), but the lack of observer in no way takes away the existence of that experience/being/energy.

Secondly, because all energy is the same, and we as apparently individual human beings are conscious, then its very difficult to imagine that any spec of the energy field of all-that-is could not be conscious. The type of consciousness may vary greatly, in an infinite number of ways, but is still basic consciousness nonetheless. For us to be conscious implies that everything is, that energy itself is consciousness. That ours is focused into a small amount of matter at the moment (exclusively, as far as what we deem our conscious mind is concerned) does not mean that every other piece of this energy shares that form of focalised consciousness.

If our rule of free will stands up, as it must, in that the law of attraction clearly states that we create our reality by what we think about, thereby allowing that to become part of our reality, then all forms of consciousness must inherit this same trait, although perhaps experentially very different. Therefore the observer cannot observe the observed unless the observed is also an observer that is observing the original observer.

With this understood, all observers are in fact by nature observed, as that which they are observing is also by nature observer. The process of observation therefore does not contain observed and observer, but both of those in both participants, or what I will now call observed(er).

I dont mean to shake rocky ground, but this places all new challenges on the understanding of the role of observer in the observed.

And having raised an issue without providing satisfactory resolution, I leave you now.

Stop Feeling Guilty Part 2

Yoga And To Force Or to Feel

Most of us who do yoga yearn for more from the practice than just physical benefits--indeed, for more than just benefit to ourselves. But how can twisting our bodies, opening our hips, and straightening our legs make a difference in the wider world? How can lifting our chests help lift up this troubled planet?

Our asana practice can have a positive impact because it constantly asks us to become more sensitive, more conscious, more aware of ourselves--not just our bodies but also our minds, feelings, emotions, and our very nature. The real value of asana practice is that it can teach us to tune in and truly feel. As our sensitivity increases, life becomes more rich and enjoyable because we can taste the unique flavor of each individual moment. More important, we also become more aware of what moves us toward out dharma and what takes us away from it. This awareness makes us clearer and more peaceful, more able to elegantly handle life's endless dilemmas without feeling overwhelmed or fearful. As a result, we become more effective in all of our actions, and our presence begins to inspire and bring out the best in people around us.

The opposite of feeling is forcing. When we force, we cannot feel, and when we feel, we cannot force. The moment we start to force, we begin to lose awareness of the effect our efforts have on our nervous system, on the situation itself, and on the other people involved. Forcing makes us angry, inflexible, and intolerant; raises our blood pressure; and can eventually create heart problems. Feeling, on the other hand, makes us calmer, more receptive, more understanding, and healthier.

If we force ourselves into Ardha Matsyendrasana II (Half Lord of the Fishes Pose II), the spine will twist where it always has, where it needs the twist the least. In this pose, it is particularly easy to force the body while attempting to reach around the back and grab the shin. To the extent that the desire to do this comes from the ego's urge to satisfy itself--just to prove we can do this pose--it manifests itself as force. Feeling, on the other hand, allows us to tune in to the habitual tendencies of the body and sense which vertebrae are twisting and which are not. Cultivating feeling in Ardha Matsyendrasana II allows movement where there was stagnation, release where there was stiffness, and freedom where there was bondage.

Just as force and feeling are opposites, so are violence and awareness. We often get angry, and sometimes even outwardly violent, when a situation arises that is not to our ego's liking, rather than using it as an opportunity to become more aware. But violence inevitably breeds more violence. The more forceful and violent we are, the further we move from feeling and awareness; consequently, the more violent we become.

I believe much of the violence in our world comes from our lack of awareness, which has historically manifested itself as an unwillingness to see other people's point of view. When we pause and feel, we become more open and more receptive to the possibility that there are valid ways of thinking other than our own.

Sensitivity is often portrayed as weakness, yet it actually gives us the strength to lower our guard and say to an enemy, "Let's sit down and talk this through. How are you feeling? Why are you behaving the way you are?" People who have the security that comes with deep sensitivity and awareness have no desire to be violent; it is insecurity that contributes to violence. Through feeling, sensitivity, and awareness, we can bring insecurity and its resulting violence to an end.

What does all of this have to do with our individual practice of asanas like Ardha Matsyendrasana II? The awareness that we develop on the yoga mat, though seemingly small, affects all that is. As we become more aware in our yoga practice and in our lives, as we move away from force and violence and toward sensitivity, feeling and awareness, we change our individual consciousness and actions. In turn, these changes influence the consciousness and actions of everyone we meet. Slowly we shift the direction the world is taking. As we practice each asana, whether it be a challenging twist like Ardha Matsyendrasana II or a simple standing pose, we have the opportunity to become the embodiment of peace and to make our practice a prayer for harmony in the world.

Why do Muslims and Islam Honor Jesus and Mary

Many do not know that Muslims honor Jesus and Mary as part of their religious beliefs. The following highlights some of the facts regarding Muslims beliefs about Jesus and Mary.

* Muslims believe in Jesus as a prophet. They believe that God (Allah) sent many prophets to mankind and Jesus was one of them

* As the Muslim religions foundation is to believe in one God and not to associate anyone with God and His powers and attributes, Jesus was only a human being that was raised by God and will return him to this earth in this life. Jesus will then die as a regular human being.

* Muslims believe that Bible was revealed on Prophet Jesus. However, with time, as that book was changed, God (Allah) revealed His last book, the Quran on the last prophet, Prophet Muhammad.

* Quran was revealed over a period of 23 years

* Muslims believe in Mary as the Virgin mother of Prophet Jesus

* There is an entire chapter in the Quran that explains in detail the birth of Jesus, his family, etc. The chapter is called Chapter of Mary

* Muslims believe that Jesus although was put on the cross was never crucified. Instead, he was raised to the heavens by God (Allah) and another person instead was crucified in his place. These teachings and the fully story are narrated in the Quran.

* Muslims also believe that Jesus will come back to earth, unit the Christians and the Muslims and will kill the anti-Christ.

* The Quran teaches Muslims that Jesus though was a normal human being but had special powers from God (Allah) including raising the dead and curing diseases.

The Devil and the Mystery

Most Christians know more about the devil than they know about "The Mystery." Even so, they do not know any more about the devil than they should know. They should know more about him, so that they can truthfully say, with Paul, "We are not ignorant of his devices" (II Cor. 2:11). Certainly every Christian should know more about "The Mystery." God wants every Christian to know "The Mystery," and to make it known to others (Eph. 3:9). You say, "Then it would no longer be "The Mystery." Certainly not. Why after over 2,000 years should this divine truth still be a mystery so far as ninety-nine per cent of God's people are concerned? Can you answer this question? It is true that the devil doesn't want any one to understand or even study this divine truth. But is not God's will to be desired by Christians more than Satan's? Doesn't God's power exceed the devil's power? Satan is mighty. God is almighty. Genuine spiritual Christians know that God's power exceeds Satan's power.

But let's take an inventory. As we take in the world-wide political situation, the distress of nations, with even the so-called Christian nations on the verge of bankruptcy and destruction, we may wonder that Satan has such power after 2,000 years of Christianity. But we believe that Satan knew what he was talking about in Luke 4:6 when he told the Lord Jesus that the kingdoms of the world were under his control. The Lord was right when He called Satan "the prince of this world."

When we consider the millions and millions of people of the world religiously, and see what the devil has done to them, surely we give a hearty "Amen" to the statement of I John 5:19, "the whole world lieth in [the evil one]." In his tricks to keep sinners away from the saving gospel of Christ, Satan is called "the god of this [age]" (II Cor. 4:3,4). To accomplish his purpose with people who want some kind of a so-called Christian religion, the devil transforms himself into an angel of light and instructs his servants to pretend that they are missionaries of Christ (II Cor. 11:13-15).

Then let us consider what the devil has done with Church members who are actually members of Christ's Body, God's one and only Church today. Note God's instructions in Ephesians 4:3-6:

"Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one Body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling: one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."

Meditate"the unity of the Spirit." Where is it found? One faith, one hope of your calling, one baptism. One Body. How many sects and denominations? Several hundred. How many bodies? One Body. Note Ephesians 1:20-23:

"Which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in [the heavenlies]. Far above all principality and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: and hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the Head over all things to the Church, which is His Body, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all."

Christ is in the heavenlies. Christ is the one Head of His one and only Church, which is His Body, "the fulness of Him that filleth all in all."

No matter how loyal, zealous sectarians may defend and contend for their denominational churches, the student of the Word of God knows that "denominationalism" is absolutely unscriptural. There is one, and only one, true Bible Church and that Bible Church is denominated, The Body of Christ, "the fulness of Him that filleth all in all." In Ephesians 3:6 that one Church is called the "Joint-Body" (see the Greek).

Members of Christ's Body are seated with Christ in the heavenlies and are blessed with all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies (Eph. 2:6 and 1:3). One reason why God wants all men to see "The Mystery" is expressed in Ephesians 3:10,11:

"To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in [the heavenlies] might be known by the Church the manifold wisdom of God, according to the eternal purpose which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord."

The Mystery then, is divine truth concerning "the heavenlies" and "according to the eternal purpose which God purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord." By searching the Scriptures we find that this divine message was not in fulfillment of prophecy, but was a spiritual program predestinated by God before the foundation of the world.

We have seen how Satan works politically as "the prince of this world"; how, as "the god of this age" he blinds the unbeliever to keep him from believing the gospel of salvation. In Ephesians 6:11-20 we learn of Satan's spiritual wickedness in the heavenlies, his opposition to the message and the messenger of "The Mystery," divine truth concerning the heavenlies. Note Ephesians 6:11,12:

"Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places [in the heavenlies]."

And note Ephesians 6:19,20:

"And [pray] for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak."

Why was Paul a prisoner of Rome? Hear his own words: for "the mystery of the gospel." Read this again in Colossians 4:3,4 and hear his testimony in Ephesians 3:1-3:

"For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles. If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God, which is given me to you-ward: how that by revelation He made known unto me the Mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words)."

Note God's Word in Ephesians 3:9:

"And to make all men see what is the [dispensation] of the Mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God."

Here we see "the dispensation of the grace of God" and the dispensation of the Mystery are linked together. This glorious truth was made known by revelation to the Apostle Paul, who became the prisoner of Jesus Christ for the Gentiles. Do we appreciate what he suffered for us? Let's get into the Book and try to understand the message for which he suffered.

While Paul knew that religious men were opposed to "The Mystery" and were determined that he should not preach that divine truth, he knew that he was not wrestling against flesh and blood; that his real opponent was the devil as the ruler of world darkness in the heavenlies.

Paul wrote in II Corinthians 4:3 and 4 that Satan blinded minds. But note his request for a very specific prayer in Ephesians 1:17,18:

"That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints."

Paul did not want minds blinded to "The Mystery." He knew that it required a special spirit of wisdom and revelation to comprehend that particular glorious truth.

Yes, the devil succeeded in getting Paul in jail for "The Mystery," bound as an evil doer unto chains. But from his prison cell he wrote: "The Word of God is not bound."

God wants you to know and to make known this glorious truth...which should have ceased to be a mystery more than twenty centuries ago.

Putting Up With Organized Religion

Let me explain where I'm coming from in my writing. Organized religion worked good 200 or maybe 500 years ago, but I really don't see a need for it today. We fight wars over religion and even kill people that speak out against organized religion. Religions and governments all over the world control people through fear and pleasure.

I'm tired of people fighting and killing all over the world in the name of some religion. I once heard an Iranian man, through a translator, on our local news say, "if he dies in the name of Allah, he gets to go to heaven." I don't know if I want to be signed up for that program but obviously he believes in it enough and is willing to die for what he believes in, right or wrong. Some people view this man is evil while others view him as a hero, how do you think you would do this person?

What the Romans did to people 2000 years ago is what I would consider a very bad. Was the devil actually providing an evil influence for Roman leaders back then. I've never heard anyone mention that but they did kill Jesus of Nazareth and he seemed like a pretty good person.

If Jesus would have kept his mouth shut, he could have lived to a ripe old age. He chose not to, because he believed in his cause. Some Jews believe that he was under the influence of evil, that's hard to imagine. He believed that some of the ideas and teaching of the Romans and Jews were wrong and he was going to make them better. These leaders were afraid of change and decided to eliminate what they view as they evil problem.

I started writing to influence and educate people in a positive way. I really don't want to upset religious followers, but I would like them to understand, a little more about their religion. What causes people to kill others in the name of their god? Is that evil or an evil influence from other religion's of the world.

I would imagine most of these people choose to accept words from their religious leaders as facts and will never question their faith. If religious followers could understand other religions, maybe they wouldn't persecute them or try to convert them into their own beliefs.

My influence will affect others and will provoke them to think, always question your religion and when they start thinking, this is when I've made a positive influence in a constructive way. Cutting Back the Costs of Utilities

At this time of year many homes are hit with high utility bills as people look to keep themselves warm and entertained. Increased use of electrical appliances as well as heating and hot water often accounts for a costly utility bill. On receiving such a bill many people then search for ways in which they can cut back and reduce the amount they are paying for utilities.

Before even looking at cutting back on the use of electrical appliances and heating there are several steps that a person can take to save on utility costs. Ensuring your home is weatherproof will allow your house to be naturally much warmer. By making sure your doorways all have adhesive stripping and any air holes around the home are covered up will stop warm air escaping and cold air entering your home! When switching appliances off ensuring appliances are switched off at the plug as opposed to leaving them on stand by (which still uses energy!) will also cut back the amount of electricity being used.

Another technique for reducing the costs of utilities is to look at the source of your energy. In recent years the price of natural gas has soared whilst electricity prices have remained stable. Converting any major appliances such as water heaters and furnaces to electricity from gas will help to reduce costs as you will be paying less for your energy per unit. Although this method will endure some initial costs in the long run conversion will save you a lot of money.

Key to making the biggest saving on utilities is to ensure you are with the cheapest provider. You must ensure that you compare gas providers and electricity providers to make a big saving. Comparing utilities providers will significantly reduce the cost of utilities and give you peace of mind!

10 Simple Actions That Reduce Your Environmental Impact

There is a big difference between knowing how to live green and actually living green. Being green isn't always easy and it isn't always cheap but the world you live in becomes a better place for your efforts.

"Greening" your own life starts with a single step. If you are ready to take that first step then consider the following 10 simple actions that you can apply in your own life to reduce your impact on the environment.

  1. Support local green businesses. Do you have a local Co-op or Farmer's Market you could be shopping at?
  2. Install Energy Star products such as compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) or a Cool-N-Save(tm) Air Conditioning Pre-Cooling System. Doing this can provide a 30-75% energy savings.
  3. Always remember to check and maintain your tire pressure at least once a month. Doing this can save you about $840 a year on gas and reduce approximately 250 lbs of carbon dioxide.
  4. Add low-flow aerators to any sink you have that may have been manufactured before 1994. In 1994 the government mandated that sinks could have no more then 2.2 gallons per minute of flow, before 1994 sinks could use between 3-4 gallons of water per minute.
  5. Purchase green power from your electric company. This reduces demand for fossil fuel based power.
  6. Plant a tree. Tree's offer shade and reduce CO2 from the environment.
  7. Bring your own utensils into work - it's an easy way to avoid throwaway plastic ones.
  8. Bring your own coffee mug to coffee shops - it's an easy way to avoid disposable coffee cups.
  9. Reduce the amount of red meat you eat. Why? The production of animal-products has an expensive environmental cost, so the less you eat, the less the environment incurs.
  10. Unplug power adapters, like your cell phone charger and MP3 player charger, when not in use. These chargers use energy 24/7 even when your item is not charging.

While this is far from a comprehensive list I hope these tips help you become a bit more "green" in your own life. As the world keeps getting bigger it's more and more important we each do our part.

Your Energy Efficient Metal Roof

In these modern times we must all make an effort to reduce our energy consumption while making sure we are using environmentally responsible, sustainable resources. Using metal roofing is one of the ways we can achieve this goal but the best part is, it can save us money in the process.

Many advances have been made in recent years in the field of metal roofing material. Metal roofs are now recognized as one of the premier materials for cool roofing. Cool roofs provide the advantage of reducing the home's energy consumption and lowers cooling loads during peak consumption hours.

Metal roofs that are lightly colored and more reflective can reduce cooling energy costs by up to 40%. Many metal roofing materials are now coated with an extra-reflective surface so that most colors of your roof can have these energy saving qualities. Available in many colors and textures there is a metal roof that can suit any type of house, from brand new to newly restored, and provide the added peace of mind of being non-combustible and resistant to high winds.

Since metal roofs absorb much less heat than other roofing materials there is less impact on the urban air temperature, making a metal roof better for all who live around you by keeping temperatures down. The reduction in air temperature also helps to improve air quality since less smog is formed and less fossil fuels are used to cool the home.

Cool metal roofing is the sustainable choice for those who are concerned about human population's effect on our environment. Metal roofs are extremely weather resistant and will last up to 50 years or more, and contain 25% or more recycled content. Metal roofing materials that are no longer useable are 100% recyclable, so there is no need to worry about clogging up landfills when you replace your roof. And in the spirit of not filling up landfills, since metal roofing weighs much less than conventional shingles, you can install a metal roof right on top of your old roof without adding much load to the structure or you can remove your previous roof and improve the static and dynamic load on your home.

Metal roofs do not support growths of moss or lichens, and do not deteriorate over time like asphalt shingles. Your roof will remain looking beautiful as ever, even 20 or 30 years after it is installed. Inside your home you will find that in the height of summer the air is much cooler that when you had heat absorbing shingles.

You are also making a conscious decision to use materials that are environmentally friendly and recyclable, and improving the air quality around your home. With all these advantages it is no surprise that metal roofing is becoming so popular with homeowners and contractors.

Organizing Furniture For Sunlight Ambiance and Energy Efficiency

Saving money on lighting is a huge and smart way to conserve energy. Simply switching light bulbs can increase the energy savings by a significant margin. There are LED lights that use very little as in 3-5 watts producing the same amount of illumination.

Then, there are energy saving light bulbs that use a third or less energy as regular light bulbs. And every little bit of savings adds up. Of course, these are just some of the ways to save energy in the lighting needs of your home or business.

Another good way to save energy is to strategically place the furniture to take advantage of the outside sunlight. At night when reading it often helps to pull down blinders which allow inside lights to reflect back into the room rather than a large dark window curtailing the lighting efficiency.

The types of light bulbs you use can significantly increase illumination and we all know that changing out your light bulbs to more efficient light bulbs is one of the easiest ways to save on your home electric bill. You might also be surprised that some of the energy efficient light bulbs are both brighter and last 100s of hours longer as well.

When you change out your light bulbs and adjust your furniture you can literally light up a room and improve the ambiance 10-fold. Those who do home-staging to help sell residential real estate often say; "it's all about lighting and ambiance," of course, they also realize that the furniture lay out is paramount. Maybe we can all learn a little about ambiance and energy efficiency from such experts; think on this.

Energy Efficient Space Heaters

Energy efficient space heaters are one of the best ways to cheaply lower your heating bill. According to US Government statistics, the average American spends $1,900 per year for home energy, nearly half goes to heating and cooling. Space heaters can help lower this bill. Here is how to make the most of an energy efficient space heater.

First, you have to be willing to turn down the heat in the entire house and use the space heater for the preferred room. Otherwise, you will only increase your energy bill. This often works well if one person is elderly and wants additional warmth or there is one area of the house that the family congregates after mealtime.

Choices are wide ranging. For this discussion, we are interested in portability and the only portable units are electric. Electric portable heaters convert electricity to heat by radiant heat or convection heat methods.

Radiant heaters usually look reminiscent of the old fashioned steam radiators. They are usually cooler to the touch but will heat an individual or nearby object rather quickly. They are not necessarily the best choice for heating an entire room. It will take some time for them to heat an entire room. Convection type heaters have ribbon or wire heating elements. They are a better choice for heating larger areas quickly.

In either case, make sure you purchase something that is safe. Look for the UL listing. Radiant style heaters usually have a lesser chance of burning someone or causing safety issues as the wire elements can get very hot in convection style heaters. Also, look for automatic temperature control so the room doesn't change temperature from day to night and waste additional energy. Take a look at a few of each type to determine what best suits your needs.

Heat Things Up With Pellet Stoves

Lower winter energy bills, heat individual rooms, and reduce the amount of waste that goes to the landfill - all at once. Sound too good to be true?

Actually, it isn't, thanks to a little something called a pellet stove. Think of it like a fireplace insert or freestanding stove - these devices typically heat individual rooms rather than the entire house (although they can do that too), so that you can turn down the thermostat. But instead of wood, they burn pellets: compressed sawdust, corn, wood shavings, and other wood waste that would normally go to the landfill.

A charming alternative to gas or electric heating, pellet stoves don't require EPA certification because they emit so little pollution. Seriously. And unlike your standard hearth, pellet stoves produce zero creosote.

Here's how they work: You pour pellets into a refillable hopper. From there, a motorized auger feeds these pellets into a burn pot, where they combust. And that generates much-needed heat.

According to home expert Don Vandervort, pellet stoves can be complicated and require occasional maintenance and regular attention, so you might be better off signing a service contract rather than trying to maintain the stove yourself. Another drawback: If you don't have a thermostat in every room, the heat from the stove might trick nearby thermostats into thinking the temperature in the area is at the set level. Nearby rooms become cold, and you end up raising your thermostat anyway. So when shopping for a pellet stove, opt for one with a built-in thermostat - this feature ensures better temperature control.

You'll also want to hop on over to Consumer Reports, where you'll find all kinds of important considerations for selecting the best stove for your heating needs. For instance, you'll want to determine fuel costs in your area and whether or not it makes sense to purchase a self-contained firebox insert or a freestanding stove. And just so you're as informed on the topic as possible, I also recommend reading the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy guide to wood and pellet heating.

How to Make a Simple, Low-Cost Solar Power Generation System?

As we all know that solar energy is an inexhaustible green energy, about 40 minute-solar energy exposing on the Earth is sufficient for the energy consumption of the world for one year. The application of the solar energy in the large-scale can not only solve the current energy crisis, but also can save our electricity expenditure. Anyway, do not think that the application of the solar energy is far away from our daily lives. At present, it is not difficult to find the solar energy-charged cell phone in mobile phone products. And there are also solar chargers, solar lamps, solar bus stops, etc in our daily lives. Other applications of the solar system such as solar water heaters, solar air-conditioning, and solar cook stoves and so on are also very frequently used.

The following is a simple, low-cost solar power generation system designed by us.

Materials: Several 6V or 12V single crystal silicon solar generating panels (10-50 blocks, according to the demand of the usage) Two 6V or 12V maintenance-free storage batteries One 220V inverter Above are all we need.

Step One: We need to divide the solar panels into two groups, if it is the 6V generating panels; we need to wire two panels in series to raise the voltage up to 12V, and others also need to be wired in series as the first two pieces, and then wire those groups of panels in parallel to increase the current power of the generation set. And then, install the fixed power generation panels to the metal plate, and install two sets of power generation groups to different positions (in order to absorb the sun light well. Because of low-cost, we can't make the sunlight-tracking system and it is a little difficult to make it).

Step Two: Connect the electrode leads of the power generation set to the positive and negative electrodes of the storage battery, so that the storage battery can continuously get the charging energy (in order to protect the battery, the overcharge or over-falling protection system can be added). Then wire two sets of storage batteries in parallel to increase the current of the battery.

Step Three: Next, we need to convert 12V DC to our appliances used 220V AC, which will require the inverter. Connect the battery power leads to 220V inverter.

Finally, after the conversion of the adequate sunlight, the power connected by the inverter can be used for domestic lighting equipment.

This system is very flexible, you can increase the solar panels and batteries to obtain more energy, so that your computer, televisions, refrigerators and even air conditioning can be carried out through the solar energy.

The Advantages of Building Green

If you are considering building a new house, consider the savings that you'll gain from building a green house. Once you've purchased the Baton Rouge real estate on which you've chose to build your home, ask your builder about what he or she can do to make your home more energy efficient and green. Not only does it help the environment, it will help your pocket book as well!

Insulation is your number one easiest change that has the largest impact in reducing the energy your home takes to run it. A well insulated home will pay for itself over and over again through the hot summer and cold winter months. You'll see a huge reduction in your energy bills.

The size of your house makes a difference as well. Consider your plans for a home carefully, and decide how much space you really need. Obviously, the larger the home, the more energy it will take to keep it running. You can reduce your costs by building a slightly smaller home.

Windows let plenty of energy escape the home. When it comes to choosing windows for your new home, choose energy efficient windows that not only keep the elements out, but actually work to keep your home protected as well. Saving Big Money With Proper Attic Insulation

I'm sure you work hard to earn a living and it's not the easiest thing to do. So in this article I am going to give you a few facts so you can quickly evaluate your home and discover if you are burning your paychecks. I know that I would love to have the years worth of money that went through my roof. So lets get started with some facts.

Believe it or not the Department of Energy estimates that 80 million homes in the US are currently under insulated and wasting energy. Heating homes is also still the number one use of energy in the US. Wow! In this day and age of the highest fuel prices and energy conservation awareness this would seem to be a great place to start. Yet it's a topic of very little awareness.

If you live in a climate that has hot summers and/or cold winters it is easy to save 20% or more on your energy bills for a modest investment by properly insulating your attic. My experience is that this investment will pay for itself in as little as one year, after that it's money in the bank. There is no easier way to make money than to save money!

So how do I know if I need attic insulation? One way to determine that is to look in your attic. Usually you only have to peek through the attic hatch and stick a tape measure in the insulation and measure the thickness. Insulation R-Value (Heat Loss Resistance) varies with different types of insulation, but in general you want to see about 18" for an R-Value of R-49. An easier way to determine your R-Value is to contact a professional insulation contractor in your area. They will do a free estimate for you. If they won't do a free estimate call someone who will! This is worth doing just for their experience in properly determining R-Values and spotting other problems.

So I've determined that I need to insulate my attic. Which type should I use? There are four basic types of insulation used in attics. Rolled batts, blown fiberglass, foam spray and cellulose.

Batts: These are a reasonable solution for small easy jobs without a lot of obstructions. Layers can be overlaid in opposite directions to achieve higher R-Values.

Foam Spray: This material has the highest R-Value of the four types. It requires special equipment and professional installation. This is the most effective insulation but by far the most expensive.

Blown Cellulose Insulation: This material is very common today. You will find this in most new homes. It is essentially recycled newspaper that has been treated for fire protection. Cellulose is reasonably priced but will settle in no time and loose R-Value. It also can hold up to 20% of it's weight in moisture which is a bad thing. Cellulose is heavy to start with since it is paper and has thickness limitations. Cellulose can become especially heavy when it absorbs moisture. Being organic mold is always a concern also. I never sell, install or recommend Cellulose.

Blown Fiberglass Insulation: This is in my opinion the best attic insulation solution available. As a Insulation contractor in Columbus, Ohio we exclusively use Owens Corning blown fiberglass insulation on our jobs. The material has a good R-Value, is very light, virtually no settling (maintains it's R-Value), is inorganic so mold is of no concern and retains essentially no moisture to make weight a concern. Since this material is so light we can blow a job up to much higher R-Values than cellulose. I should also mention more cost effective!

How much can I expect to save? If you would like more information and to see some savings examples you can visit our website for more information. Please see the bio below for the link.

Free Solar Hot Water Heaters

The news is out. Residential solar water heating systems now cost between $1,500 and $3,500 - compared to $150 to $450 for electric and gas heaters. Solar hot water systems are still significantly more expensive initially... So how is that FREE?

With energy prices soaring, considering the savings in electricity or natural gas, experts report that solar water heaters now pay for themselves within 4-8 years!

Solar water heating systems last 15 to 30 years - at least twice as long as conventional systems. With this in mind, after the initial payback period, you can enjoy free hot water for 10 to 20 years!

Of course, the best reason to install a solar water heater is the positive impact on the environment - no fossil fuels or nuclear used to generate the energy to provide your home with hot water - only pure energy provided by the sun.

Conventional Water Heaters Contribute to Global Warming

Consider this: according to the University of Wisconsin's Solar Energy Laboratory, an average four-person household with an electric water heater needs about 6,400 kilowatt hours of electricity per year to heat water for their home.

Assuming electricity is generated by a typical power plant with an efficiency of around 30 percent; this means the average electric water heater is responsible for about 8 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually, a significant contributor to CO2 pollution - and global warming.

Let's put this into perspective. The average car emits about 4 tons of CO2 annually ... so this means electric hot water heaters generate about twice as much CO2 as the average automobile - every year!

So, for every solar hot water system installed, the effect is like taking two cars off the road for the life of the solar heating system. Imagine if just 25 % of U.S. homes installed solar hot water systems ... the drop in C02 emissions would be staggering.

So, what's not to like? Financial savings, tax credits, clean energy, saving the planet ... sounds like a winning move to me.

How They Work

Solar hot water systems can be implemented as either active or passive systems.

Active Systems - Active solar water heaters generally use electrically powered pumps and other equipment to circulate water or a 'heat-transfer fluid' through the system.

There are three types of active systems:

  1. Direct systems - these systems use pumps to circulate water through special solar heat collectors. Best suited for mild climates.
  2. Indirect systems - instead of pumping water through the solar collectors, these systems pump 'heat-transfer fluids', such as antifreeze fluid. Heat exchangers then transfer the heat from the fluid to the water. Better for colder climates.
  3. Drainback systems - also use electric pumps to circulate water through the solar heat collectors. In this type of indirect heating system, the heated water drains into a holding tank when the pumps stop.

Both the indirect and the drainback systems work well in colder climates because they minimize the chance of freezing water by constantly circulating the water or fluid.

Passive Systems - Passive solar water heaters circulate water or a heat-transfer fluid without electric pumps or other devices. There are two basic types of passive solar water heating systems:

Batch heaters are very simple and have been used for years. They consist of one or more storage tanks placed in insulated boxes with their painted, or heat-absorbing sides facing the sun. Since water flow is minimal, these systems work best in warmer climates.

Thermosiphon systems - these systems rely on the natural process that causes warm water to rise. The system circulates water through solar heat collectors and then into a holding tank, which is located above the collector.

Thermosiphon systems can function effectively in colder climates due to the constant circulation of system fluids.

Solar Water Heaters Gaining Popularity

Reaching the point where 50% of all U.S. households have some type of solar hot water system installed might not be such an outrageous goal. According to the Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI), there are 1.5 million solar water heaters already in use in U.S. homes and businesses. Since Solar water heater systems can work effectively in just about any climate, it's estimated that 40 percent of all U.S. homes have sufficient access to sunlight to make it cost effective for them to install solar water heaters right now.

Go Green!

Using the sun to heat water is not a new idea. Solar energy has been used for years to heat water for homes and businesses around the world. In some countries, such as Israel, solar hot water systems are now mandatory for residential use. In the U.S., as far back as the early 1900's, solar hot water systems have been common in southern California.

Today, solar heated water systems provide hot water for everything from remote cabins and homes to hospitals and office buildings.

The more we embrace new technologies that promote eco-friendly solutions for energy production and reduce CO2 emissions, the better chance we have of leaving a planet to our children that not only survives, but thrives.

Go Green! Look into installing a solar hot water heater today.

Learn How to Make Solar Panels and Reap the Benefits of Off-Grid Living

With today's high energy prices, and with the threat of global warming looming, it's no wonder more and more people are opting to install solar panels for their homes. However, professionally installed solar panels seem to be way out of the reach of the average home owner with their exorbitant cost. In this article, I'm going to show you how to save money by learning how to make solar panels yourself.

You don't need a fancy engineering degree, and you don't need any exotic materials. In fact, if you're a do-it-yourselfer, you'll be happy to know that you can easily learn how to make solar panels for your home. Many of you will even be able to do it in one weekend, and with supplies that you buy at your local hardware store.

By learning how to make your own solar panels you get the added benefit of being able to control the size of your system. You're in control.

If you want to live completely off the grid, then you can structure your design to do just that. Or, if your goals aren't so lofty and you just need enough juice to power your home workshop, then you can make a smaller solar panel system. The choice is yours and by making your own solar panels, you have that freedom.

Before you even start designing your system, you'll need a quality manual to show you how to make your solar panels. Just remember that you get what you pay for. Don't skimp on a manual since a well reviewed, and quality manual can save you hundreds of dollars, and hours of frustration. So, don't be afraid to spend some extra cash on a manual that will teach you how to make your own solar panels, and that cuts through all the bull and red tape.

You'll be able to make a solar panel system that's both customized and scalable so if you only need a little bit of power now, you can make a smaller system. You can even scale it way up to meet all your home's energy requirements. It's completely up to you. Renewable Energy

At the moment recession has hit most of the richer countries such as America and the UK. Many thousands of people are unemployed or earning half of what they used to.

Most people would have heard of renewable energy but thought it would cost too much or could not be installed on/by houses, so they are missing out. You can cut your bills by 80% to having no electricity bill at all. By taking advantage of the wind or the sun you can grab that energy and bottle it for your own use. How? I hear you ask, well by using wind turbines and solar panels you can turn wind and the sun into electricity.

Wind Energy
A small wind turbine can cost under $200 or 400. It will cut your bills by an unimaginable amount.

How it works
Wind turbines are like windmills, they use long blades set at an angle so when the wind blows they turn. Connected to the pivot (where the blades spin from) is a generator, that turns the moving power into raw power. It will be fed into your home and can help power your house. If you don't use all you need it will be fed into the main power grid and the electricity companies SEND YOU MONEY!

Solar energy
Solar panels use the power of the sun to make electricity. They cost a bit more than wind turbines but on a sunny day produce alot more energy. Again like wind turbines if you don't use all the energy your solar panel produces it is fed into the main power grid and you get money back.

Summary
By using lots of solar panels and wind turbines you can cut the cost of your bill by A LOT of money. Renewable energy doesn't just benefit you, it help the planet as well. At the moment we are killing the planet by burning all the non-renewable resources like coal and wood, by using renewable energy you are giving the planet a helping hand.

Consumer Attitudes About Green Building

Consumer interest in green building exploded in 2007, and it's still growing. Thanks to extensive media coverage, an increasing number of consumers are becoming familiar with sustainability and green building. Newspapers warn about climate change and soaring gas prices. Retail giants like Wal-Mart have adopted sustainable practices and opened green stores. Hollywood has jumped on the green bandwagon, incorporating green practices in its 2008 Oscars. Home and garden television shows offer a steady stream
of shows promoting green living.

As the media pushes green building into the mainstream, consumers are becoming more attuned to the benefits of green homes. Homebuilders have an opportunity to meet consumer demand by adopting practices that improve the energy efficiency, durability, and indoor air quality of homes. It's important to know the variety of consumer attitudes about green building in order to respond to the changing market.

Consumer uncertainty: Is green building more hype than reality?

Some consumers are skeptics and wonder about the hype surrounding green building. They may acknowledge that green is an effective marketing strategy, but they question companies' motives for advertising a product or home as green. Many of these consumers are cautious of greenwashing, a tactic that companies use to mislead consumers into thinking their products or practices are green when they're actually not. Homebuilders must be able to prove to these consumers that they're homes are legitimately green.

Consumer profile: Who buys green homes?

People who buy green homes can't easily be lumped into one category. They buy for different reasons. A family may find a green home appealing because they want their kids to grow up in a healthy home without allergens and toxins. Empty-nesters may be attracted to the cheaper utility bills.

For a growing number of consumers, green building is not a hard sell. These consumers have done their research; they're concerned about reducing their ecological footprint or impact on the environment. They understand that energy-efficient homes can alleviate global warming and soaring gas prices even more than hybrid cars can. In some cases, they're more knowledgeable than the homebuilder and can shop around for green features. Many others recognize the benefits of a green home, but their understanding is
more basic.

Consumer values: What are the benefits of green building?

The key to selling green homes is to understand the values that consumers hold and what motivates them to buy green products. In other words, the best way to market green building is to educate homebuyers on its benefits. Realize that sustainability and environmental benefits won't resonate with everyone. However, if you frame the benefits of green homes in terms of indoor air quality, comfort, and economy, you're more likely to convince buyers that green homes have a direct impact on their health, happiness, and quality of life. Avoid using the vocabulary of the builder-"energy recovery ventilators" means little to most buyers, but lower utility bills and fresher indoor air make a whole lot of sense. The more relevant you make green building to consumers, the more they'll recognize its value.

BuildIQ provides homebuilders with online information, tools, and training to help them improve the quality of their homes.
